It is still cool out but at least it is sunny and should warm up later.  I feel great!  Yesterday I goofed.  I went to my friend’s house, which just caught on fire 2 days ago while he was in the hospital, to see what I could do to help.  There were a lot of construction people in there tearing down ceilings and wiping down the walls when I realized that I’m not supposed to be around any construction yet.  I quickly left and sent an e-mail to Chicago and am waiting to hear from them.  I hope that everything is OK.  Have a nice weekend and I will see you on Monday.       Mike

What a nice day.  At least the sun is shining.  I really feel good today.  There is no pain anywhere and I am sleeping like a rock at night.  When I get up, I feel refreshed and energized.  I’m still on some medication for the pneumonia but that is being tapered off with each passing day.  I think the fresh air outside will also help me.         Mike

Another day in paradise.  This weather makes you want to hide in the basement.  At least I am catching up on all of my paperwork.  The wheezing in my chest is gone and I’m starting to feel much better.  Because of the steroids, I have all kinds of flexability but as of today, I am starting to back off of my dosage and decrease it with each passing day.           Mike

Wow, what a nasty day.  However, it is much better than being in the hospital.  My service was just fantastic while I was in the hospital.  The nurses and doctors were very caring.  I am feeling fine except for a cough now and then.  As for my Scleroderma, I feel great.  I am so filled with steroids, which I am now decreasing, for my pneumonia that all of my joint pain is nonexistent.  So I will remain indoors today and continue to rest and get healthier.          Mike

Good Day !   It is good to be back home.  While at Martha’s Vineyard two weeks ago, I must have caught something other than all of the fish that I caught.  When I came home I felt under the weather and went to see my doctor.  She put me on a low dose antibiotic but over the weekend, I ran a fever and slowly got worst.  Then I called her and she suggested that I go to her office and that she wanted to hospitalize me and give me stronger antibiotics through an IV.  Well it turned out that I had bronchial pneumonia.  I was released yesterday and am now home. I am on antibiotics while at home.  I will be just taking it easy for the next couple of days but it was nice to hear from all of you.  I also want to again thank Kay for placing a note on the blog to keep all of you informed.            Mike

A Message from Kay

Hi Everyone,

I’m jumping into Mike’s blog to let you know that he is in the hospital. (He doesn’t want his blogging to be interrupted so he asked me to post while he’s in there).

He was admitted to Beth Israel this week for treatment of pneumonia.  I don’t have alot of details, but sounds like it’s unrelated to his transplant treatment, and he just needs to kick the pneumonia.  I will update when I have any news. Meanwhile, feel free to comment here – so he can read the messages as soon as he get’s access to a computer. I know that his blog helped his spirits tremendously while he was in Chicago, so sending more get well wishes will do the same again.

Kay

I am feeling a little better today but I am going to call my doctor because this is still lingering and I feel a wheezing in my chest which I don’t like.  I am also coughing a lot.  I definitely do not like the cold weather anymore.  Some good news..I have been working with a couple and the man, John has been turned down from Chicago for a transplant.  I referred them to Dr Sabnani and he was admitted on Sunday for a week of tests.  In an e-mail that I received today, the doctors at Beth Israel feel that he does not have Scleroderma but instead just needs a lung transplant.  They are flabbergasted and overjoyed. It feels so good helping others when so many of you have helped me.        Mike

Well I am feeling much better than I have been feeling in the last 5 days.  I still have a horrible cough but it seems like there is less congestion.  I just want to get better and get outside and move around.  As for the Scleroderma, that seems to be getting better and better with each passing day.        Mike

Hi there.  My doctor said that I look very good and that my lungs were very clear.  Then I told her how I felt so she gave me some antibiotics and because I was ill she decided not to give me a flu and pneumonia shot.  All weekend I was in bed and most of the time I just slept.  Even today, I am wobbly and sneezing all the time.  So I will just put on some sweats and just take it easy until I’m feeling better.       Mike
