What a nice day.  It’s time to get outside for some exercise.  I got a phone call last night from Dr. Testori, my transplant doctor in Chicago.  He is in charge of overseeing all of the transplant patients and would come  in to see me every day along with Dr. Burt.  Well he said that I am moving right along and that I will now start to see changes from the first month to three months.  I feel good today, even though I still feel tired.  He told me that this is normal and that I will improve with each passing day.  I told him that I was sore and he attributed that to the weather. He said that once the dampness goes away, so will the pain.  Right now I am taking no medication for pain which is what I want and they do too.  He said that he will look at my most recent blood test and if there is a problem that he would call.  he said as of last week, my tests were fine.  So this is good news, which mean that I can have to go out and exercise.  Mike

Well, I’m feeling pretty good even though I would like to go outside and do some exercise. But with this dampness i think I will just stay indoors and read.  I’m sure the nice weather will come soon and this gives me a chance to catch up on paperwork and reading. I’m hoping to get a call from Dr. Sabnani tonight with my blood results.  Mike

Well another beautiful day here in sunny New Jersey.  All kidding aside, we really need this rain, especially my neighbor who just got a beautiful sod lawn installed last Friday.  His lawn is now greener than the green line which runs down our street.  I’m feeling fine except for some stiffness due to this weather.  I know over the weekend I asked you to pray for two people but I want to ask you to pray for another person.  This woman has done so much for me and had the misfortune of breaking her leg last Friday.   She required surgery, but after talking to her, she is still full of energy.   She is Linda Gianfrancesco and she needs our help.  Thank you.  Mike

What horrible weather.  I know that we need the rain but these dark, dreary skies are so depressing.  I’m feeling good but I am staying inside because it is too damp for me.  The only thing that hurts is my bones (joints).  That is probably from the dampness.  Other than that, I seem to be fine.  I’m getting stronger and stronger as each day passes.  I’m still a bit tired during the day, but whenever I get tired, I just take a 20 minute nap.  My appetite is back so I’m eating everything in sight.  If you have an extra prayer, you could say one for Victoria Chavez, who will be starting her Chemo at Northwestern Memorial for Scheroderma and also one for Judy Hoffman who will be starting her chemo for cancer at Sloan-Kettering tomorrow.  I recently spoke to both women and they need our prayers and support.  Mike

It was a long day at the hospital. They were kind of of backed up and then after seeing Dr. Sabnani I had to get my blood drawn.  While talking to Dr. Sabnani, she said that I was doing great.  All of my blood tests were fine except for the one that she says runs high after a transplant for a while.  She said nothing to worry about.  I do feel good today, but I did notice that as the day went on and the temperature started to drop my joints also got stiff.  She also FAXED my results to Chicago and after calling them, they told me to say on the stronger infection medication.  So, all in all, I would say that the visit went well and I’m encouraged by the blood results.  Mike

I got a chance to get out and move about yesterday.  It really felt good.  Today I am going to try walking around the block along the water.  The water is so peaceful and relaxing.  I love to just listen to it.  I’m starting to feel much better so I hope that I am over the infection and now my body will get stronger and stronger each day.  I’m taking it slow and be very cautious, not like I did when I first came home.  Tomorrow I will be going to see Dr. Sabnani at Beth Israel and I can’t wait to see those blood results.  Have a nice day.  Mike

WOW!  What a beautiful day.  Now this is the kind of weather I love.  I know all of your prayers are working because I feel good today.  The only thing that hurts are my legs but I have been walking more and more each day.  I have an appointment with Dr. Sabnani on Friday, so I will get more blood taken and we will compare the numbers.  Well, that is it for today.  I have to get out and walk.  Mike

Well it is a beautiful day and I am feeling good today. Dr. Sabnani called me from Beth Israel and wanted to see how I was feeling. She also told me that the blood tests that I took last Thursday caem back and looked OK. I’m scheduling another appointment with her for Friday. As soon as I finish typing this message to you I think I will be going out for a walk. It was so nice walkng yesterday with all of my neighbors coming up and saying hello. My neighbors are super. They are all so caring and kind. It actually makes it a real please to go outside. Mike

Well it is a new day and I want to try to get outside and go for a walk.  The only problem is it is cold out and I’m real light-headed.  I don’t know if it is a reaction to the stronger medicine.  This is starting to get ridiculous.  I should be up and about by now.  I know the doctor said the first month would be the toughest,  I did not think that he meant like this.  Yesterday I emailed Denelle.  She was going in as I was discharged.  She is home now and feeling great, just like I felt when I first came home.  I guess I just have to give it some time.   Mike
